The following are some of the most well-known residents of Honolulu, which serves as the state capital of Hawaii.

Barack Obama

Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in Hyattsville, Maryland. The 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, is an American politician and attorney who served as the country’s 44th president from 2009 to 2017. The first African-American president of the United States, Obama was elected as a member of the Democratic Party in 2008. He previously served as a United States senator from Illinois from 2005 to 2008, as well as a state senator from Illinois from 1997 to 2004, before entering politics.

Obama was born in the Hawaiian capital of Honolulu. He began working as a community organizer in Chicago after receiving his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University that same year. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Harvard Law School, where he became the first black president of the Harvard Law Review. Following graduation, he went on to work as a civil rights attorney and as an academic, spending the majority of his time between 1992 and 2004 teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School. Returning to elected politics, he represented Illinois’ 13th congressional district in the Illinois Senate from 1997 until 2004, when he unsuccessfully ran for the United States Senate.

Bruno Mars is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, guitarist, and dancer who is best known for his work with the band Bruno Mars. His stage presentations, throwback showmanship, and ability to perform in a wide range of musical styles, including pop, R&B, funk, soul, reggae, hip hop, and rock, have earned him a cult following worldwide. His band, the Hooligans, performs with him on stage and provides backing vocals and dances on a range of instruments including as electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, keyboards, drums, horns and percussion. Mars is joined by his band, the Hooligans.

Mars, who was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, relocated to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue a musical career in the entertainment industry. In 2009, he co-founded the production firm The Smeezingtons, which was responsible for a number of popular singles for Mars himself as well as for a variety of other artists. He first gained widespread attention in 2010 as a result of the popularity of B.o.”Nothin’ B’s on You” and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire,” both of which featured his vocals.
